Another natural disaster has caused devastation for our fellow Canadians, this time in communities across the National Capital Region.

On Friday, September 21, 2018, six strong tornadoes touched down in the Ottawa-Gatineau area, the first time a major Canadian city has been hit by a tornado in decades. Powerful winds tore roofs off buildings, shattered windows, uprooted trees and downed power lines. Over 100 homes have had to be demolished as the result of extensive damage, including one apartment building that housed 600 people.

In solidarity with the Ottawa Real Estate Board and the Chambre immobilière de l’Outaouais, the Canadian Real Estate Association is asking the REALTOR® community to consider giving what you can in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ Ottawa-Gatineau Tornado Appeal. Donations will be used by the Canadian Red Cross to respond to the immediate and emerging needs and to support those affected to recover from this disaster. By donating, you’ll also help show that REALTORS® from across the country are here to help those affected in their time of need. The more money we raise together, the stronger that message will be.
