Don Miller Named 2014 REALTORS Care® Award Recipient for the North Okanagan

Recognized for his long-term commitment to the community, Don Miller of Century 21 Executives Realty in Vernon, British Columbia, is the 2014 recipient of the REALTORS Care® Award for the North Okanagan Zone of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB).

Many REALTORS® give of their time, money and expertise, and this is the seventh year OMREB has recognized the exemplary volunteer efforts of its member REALTORS® in the North Okanagan. The announcement was made at the North Zone’s annual holiday luncheon on Friday, December 5, 2014.

“Don Miller is a very worthy recipient of this award, and is being recognized by his peers and acknowledged by residents of the community for his outstanding and long-term contributions to the quality of life in the Vernon area,” notes Vernon REALTOR® Elspeth Manning of OMREB’s North Zone Executive Committee.

“REALTORS® like Don help to promote public awareness that we are committed and actively involved in making a difference in the communities where we live and work.”

Don is a life-long volunteer who is always ready to lend a helping hand, or simply taking time to make someone happy with a card, gift, smile, or magic trick.

He has played an integral role in many of the Silver Star Rotary Club’s fund raising efforts and community events, assisted with Century 21 garage sales to raise funds for Easter Seals and local children needing medical assistance and equipment, and participated in pancake breakfasts and hot dog lunches to feed the homeless.

Always involved in the annual North Okanagan Food Bank Drive, Don (pictured far left) also regularly organizes his own initiatives to raise food for the local food bank. He can be seen at every Vipers hockey game selling 50/50 tickets for one organization or another.

“Congratulations to this year’s REALTORS Care® Award recipients in our Board area and to all 2014 nominees for being good public citizens, and truly caring about their local and global communities,” says OMREB President and working REALTOR® Darcy Griffiths. “It is amazing to see the diverse ways our members give back, the leadership they take and the good example they set for others. Their community spirit remains undeterred.

As the Okanagan moves towards further economic recovery and market stability during 2015, local REALTORS® look forward to continued involvement in their communities.

The North Zone of OMREB covers an area from Predator Ridge north to Vernon and Coldstream, and also includes the surrounding areas of Falkland, Enderby, Grindrod, Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Lumby and Cherryville.

The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (OMREB) is comprised of 1,030 member REALTORS® and 94 real estate offices in the Southern Interior of BC.
