REALTOR® Donates to Delta Hospital Foundation’s Life-saving Diagnostics Services Campaign

The 37-year-old Delta Hospital has an urgent need for updated diagnostic facilities and equipment to meet the increasing demand for imaging and laboratory tests. Mandip Gill, a REALTOR® with Sutton Group – West Coast Realty, has joined the community effort to fund a $12.5 million hospital upgrade. Beginning in April 2013, he took the initiative to donate 5% of his commissions to the Delta Hospital’s Diagnostics Services Campaign, which requires $7.5 million of non-governmental donations.

Thanks to generous people like Mandip, the campaign has garnered more than three-quarters of the target funding.

“I have been a life-long resident of Ladner and the hospital is a much needed facility in our community,” says Mandip, explaining his commitment to donate 5% of his commissions. “There was a time in 2002 where we were going to lose some medical services due to lack of funding, which would have greatly affected the community, at that time a campaign was put together to save these facilities. This hospital has been able to strive and add a lot of new equipment due to donations from the community.”

“I strongly believe this is a much needed facility in Delta and I thought this would be a great way to give back to the community and help the hospital reach its goals of adding new equipment and services for our residents.”

The Delta Hospital was built in 1977 and since then, advances in technology and medicine are helping people live longer, but often longer lives are accompanied by more medical conditions and chronic illness. As a result, there is an increasing need for testing. The Delta Hospital’s medical imaging and laboratory have remained unchanged for 30 years. A blood test, an x-ray or a CT scan can save a life, detect the otherwise undetectable and allow a doctor to make an accurate diagnosis. Thanks to caring donors, patients can continue to receive quality care in Delta for many more years.
