REALTORS® Add Curb Appeal to Habitat for Humanity Build Site

A sunny July weekend brought over 40 volunteers from the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board (Central Okanagan chapter) to Habitat for Humanity Kelowna’s Elk Road site to landscape their second duplex. The volunteers happily shovelled out topsoil, rolled out sod, planted xeriscape plants, and spread landscape rock to transform the yards and add some curb appeal for their new families. As the photo below shows, many hands made light work.

Deborah Moore, Managing Broker of RE/MAX Kelowna and Past Chairperson of the Central Zone of the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board, was one of the REALTORS® who participated in the landscaping blitz. “It was quite moving to be working alongside the family whose home we were working on – even the young children helped out,” she explains. “Sometimes we get caught up in our own little world…with small problems that we see as big problems… The best cure that I have found is to look to see if you can help someone else.”
