REALTORS® Raise Money for Burn Fund at XLR8 Conference

The XLR8 Real Estate Conference hosted by Sutton Group – West Coast Realty was a smashing success with line-ups before the doors opened. More than 650 REALTORS® enjoyed high calibre speakers including Brian Scudamore, Founder & CEO of “1-800-GOT-JUNK?”; Dr. Mark Devolder, a specialist on entrepreneurial success; and Craig Alexander, Senior VP & Chief Economist, TD Bank Group. A team rally, exhibitor showcase, breakout sessions, lunch, a fashion show, a cocktail party and draws for exceptional prizes rounded out the day.

“Sutton West Coast has 1,700 REALTORS® so participation was very high,” notes Curtis Cottrell, VP of Marketing for Sutton Group – West Coast Realty. “We made sure to have a fundraising component for our key charity, the Burn Fund. Firefighters in their gear showed up to help sell 50/50 tickets and pose for photos. From ticket sales at this October 8th conference, one lucky winner and the Burn Fund each received $1,700.”

Curtis reports that feedback has been very positive. “The XLR8 Real Estate Conference was motivating, educational and a good opportunity for agents to network. It was also memorable.  This year, we had a Holt Renfrew fashion show, featuring our staff, REALTORS® and a managing broker as models. When the fashion show was over, the models froze. The room went quiet, then they broke into a dance routine like a flash mob. Very few people were expecting it, including the coordinator from Holt Renfrew!  It was a great surprise and a big hit.”

“Afterwards everyone enjoyed a cocktail reception, with food and drinks provided. The event also featured prize draws. The largest prizes were a big screen television and an Audi A3 lease from Open Road Auto Group.”

Although Curtis was a key organizer, he credits Merrily Hackett, the Managing Partner at Sutton Group – West Coast Realty, and the planning committee for their contributions. “Their ideas, energy and enthusiasm pushed this event forward and made it a success.” Highlights of the conferences are available online: http://youtu.be/LK4xPiib2PQ.
