Three REALTORS® and a Real Estate Office Recognized for Their Commitment to Community Causes

The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) has recognized three local REALTORS® and a real estate office for their commitment to community causes in 2012.

Ron Antalek, Michele DeFehr, Eric Huffey, and the real estate office of Dexter Associates Realty were recipients of the REALTORS Care® Award at REBGV’s President’s Recognition Dinner hosted, March 15.

“These individuals represent the breadth and depth of charitable endeavours performed by REALTORS® across our communities each year,” says Sandra Wyant, REBGV President, 2013-14.

Ron Antalek
RE/MAX LifeStyles Realty, Maple Ridge

Ron was  instrumental in helping the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation raise $238,000 at its gala fundraiser in 2012. Ron was also a key volunteer for the Ridge Meadows Hospice Society, Cynthera Transition House, Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services, and the District of Maple Ridge.

 

Michele DeFehr
RE/MAX Crest Realty, North Vancouver

Michele is a long-time volunteer with the annual REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive. Her efforts have helped drive steady increases in the number of donations and volunteers involved with the program on the North Shore. She has also developed a special relationship with BC Children’s Hospital and has been instrumental in encouraging colleagues to donate part of their commissions to support the hospital.

Eric Huffey
Prudential Sterling Realty, Port Moody

Eric has experienced first-hand the effects of prostate cancer and has dedicated himself to raising funds and encouraging men to get checked regularly. He has also helped counsel individuals faced with a cancer diagnosis. Huffey has worked to increase prostate cancer awareness on the national, provincial, and local level.

Dexter Associates Realty, Vancouver

Dexter Associates Realty has raised more than $225,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation through its participation in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. The real estate company has also hosted galas for the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research, raising more than $55,000, and has fundraised for several other charities.
