Exit Realty Specialists Makes Strides Against Drinking and Driving

REALTORS® and staff from Exit Realty Specialists laced up their walking shoes and made strides towards ending drinking and driving.

The team raised a total of $1,200 for the 9th annual Strides for Change walk in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada). Their contribution helped make this year’s 5km walk in Rockwood Park the most successful yet.

MADD Canada is a charitable organization dedicated to ending impaired driving and supporting those affected by Canada’s number one criminal cause of death. Since opening the phone lines to support victims in 1992, they have fast become an advocate for changing legislation related to drinking and driving and now have a voice in Canada’s justice system.

Strides for Change is MADD’s signature fundraiser. All money raised goes toward victim services, public education, youth awareness, and working towards tougher legislation to help end this crime.

“As REALTORS®, a large part of our job is spent travelling the roads,” said Barry MacDonald, Exit Realty Specialists Manager. “We’re thankful to have an organization like MADD working hard to keep us, our families, and the public safe.”

REALTORS® Sheila and Kevin Elliott, a husband-and-wife sales team, used this opportunity to teach their four year-old son, Evan, about the importance of giving back. “This was our first fundraiser together and I wanted to support an organization that has really made a difference in the community,” said Sheila. “As a parent, you are always thinking about the safety of your children. The work done by the volunteers at MADD helps give us peace of mind.”

The Exit Realty Specialists team members, including Evan, completed the 5km walk. They are looking forward to participating in this event next year and raising even more in support of this great cause.
