On July 9, 2000, Sutton Group – Select Realty Inc. lost one of their esteemed colleagues to cancer. Michele Montour touched many people in her young life and always demonstrated grace under pressure when dealing with personal and business challenges. Broker of Record Bruce Sworik established the Michele Montour Award For Excellence in Real Estate in her memory. Congratulations to Ron Nieman, who was recently selected from more than 100 people on the sales team to receive this special award.
As Bruce Sworik presented this 15th annual award, he commented that “Ron certainly possesses all of the attributes that were loved and admired in Michele. He joined our team in 1993 and always displays a very positive manner and a professional image. Ron has a great sense of humour and is a real team player. He often attends our work activities—baseball tournaments being a favourite—and takes time to volunteer with the Salvation Army Feed the Homeless nights.”
Ron and Michele were colleagues for several years before she passed away in 2000. This award brings back fond memories for him. “She was a great woman; very down to earth,” says Ron. “She had a great sense of humour and a very bubbly personality. If she was feeling down you would not know it. Everyone in the office really liked her. She was a great sales agent.”
Bruce encourages his REALTORS® to find a work life balance that includes community work, professional advancement and time for friends and family. Ron certainly has achieved this happy balance in his own life.
“I am a truly blessed man. I have a beautiful wife and two children. My boy is six-years-old and my daughter is three-years-old. They make me want to become a better man. As a family, we sponsor four kids, we give to the Children’s Hospital, we belong to the North Park Church and I volunteer at Scouts/Beavers and the Salvation Army. I have so much. I like to give back.”
