A Habitat for Humanity home build is described as a hand up, not a hand out, to a deserving family.

Those at EXIT Realty Lake Superior, Brokerage certainly offered a lending hand in the charitable home-building process by raising $4,916 through raffle ticket sales for Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie & Area’s next home build. That amount doubled when the brokerage applied to the EXIT & Habitat: Dollar-for-Dollar Matching program, bringing the total donation amount to nearly $10,000.

“Community support of the draw was incredible! Lots of people were happy to know that even if they didn’t win, it was an investment to build homes for local families,” Sandi Wheeler, of Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie, told EXIT Realty’s blog site, RealEstateIndustryLeaders.com.

Brokers and agents from the northern Ontario brokerage recently participated in the Huts for Homes initiative. Local high school students spent more than 10,700 hours building six outdoor sheds that were raffled off to collect money for homebuilding materials.

Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie and Area is a non-profit organization that gathers volunteers and community partners to build affordable housing and promote home ownership in an effort to break the cycle of poverty.

A portion of every transaction fee received by EXIT Realty Corp. International is pledged to its non-profit organization of choice, and to-date $3.5 million dollars has been pledged to Habitat for Humanity. EXIT Associates anywhere in North America can work in conjunction with their local Habitat for Humanity office to raise funds for a specific project or initiative and submit a proposal to EXIT Realty Corp. International for those funds to be matched dollar-for-dollar.
