Once again this year, the Goodale Miller Team took part in the annual Oakville Half Marathon while raising money for and sponsoring a great cause in The Lighthouse Foundation.
A couple years ago, the team was deeply affected by the loss of one of their employees daughter’s friend’s father to a tragic motorcycle accident. At this time, they were introduced to a local organization called The Lighthouse for Grieving Children. Lighthouse is a fantastic cause that throws a much needed lifeline to children, teenagers and their families when one of their family members has passed away. Through Lighthouse programs, children and teens feel permitted to grieve with others in similar situations and learn to adjust to their “new normal” and, in time, recover living life to their full potential.
Lighthouse is creating a community of support and renewed hope and courage within Oakville and the Halton and Peel region. Serving over 175 families each year and growing, it is the Goodale Miller Team’s goal to help support this great cause for years to come.
With support from dedicated fundraisers and the Oakville community, Lighthouse had raised over $45,000 this year at the time of the marathon, exceeding their goal of $40,000. Although, the fundraising challenge is a success, Lighthouse still requires continued support throughout the year to meet the growing challenges it faces.
