Regina REALTORS® Tee Up Funds to Enhance Popular Park Bearing Their Name

A popular Queen City park is one step closer to boasting a new walking path, enhanced landscaping and more, thanks to the generosity of Regina REALTORS® and friends on the golf green.

The Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc. (ARR) has donated $7,585.11 — half of the record proceeds raised at this year’s ARR Annual Charity Golf Tournament — to upgrades at south Regina’s REALTORS® Park, the very park local REALTORS® helped to establish back in 1987 as a legacy of their association’s 75th anniversary.

“REALTORS® Park is not just the hub of our community, people from all across Regina come to our spray pad and soccer fields,” says Ladette Fuchs, Director of the Albert Park Community Association, the group spearheading the park’s improvement project.

“A donation like this will help us get kids playing outside instead of in front of the TV playing video games. And, with demographics changing, more and more seniors will be enjoying the park, too.”

The ARR has helped to fund other improvements to the park over the years, including the addition of the popular spray pad a decade ago. The new eight-foot wide asphalt pathway will circle the park and be maintained for year-round enjoyment. This most recent donation will also help pay for new trees, benches and cricket practice cages.

Elsewhere in the city, the ARR has contributed $12,585.11 — the other half of its charity golf tournament proceeds plus an additional $5,000 from the Association — to the North Central Family Centre, another local organization with whom Regina REALTORS® have had a longstanding friendship. Over the past nine years, the ARR has donated nearly $98,000 to the Centre’s Youth Empowerment Program.

“Our members are always quick to do their part to keep Regina a great place to live,” says ARR President, Basil Pappas. “We live here, too, after all.”
