For the first time ever, seven real estate brokerages in the South Surrey–White Rock area of British Columbia came together to support the Hike for Hospice. They raised an impressive $7,500 for the Peace Arch Hospice Society, which offers community outreach and counselling for patients and their families. The 16th annual Hike for Hospice took place on May 6 at Crescent Beach in White Rock. Participants enjoyed a five-kilometre beachfront walk, food, face painting, prizes and gifts from the REALTORS®.

“We want to raise awareness for this incredible local service, the Peach Arch Hospice Society,” said Edie Takahashi, who helped organized the fundraiser. “We had several brokerages coming together under the banner of REALTORS Care® for our community!”

The sales associates greeted participants and handed out more than 200 REALTORS Care® goody bags.

“We had Sutton Group–West Coast Realty (White Rock), Sutton–Premier Realty, Homelife Benchmark Realty, Bay Realty, RE/MAX Colonial Realty, Hugh McKinnon Realty and Macdonald Realty representing our local real estate community.”

Edie said she is pleased to report the sponsorships and donations from the brokerages totaled about $7,500, including $4,500 contributed by her office, Sutton Group–West Coast Realty (White Rock).

Representatives for Sutton included Terry Hermann Wong, Kristina Eng, Aaron Muller, Evon Mayer, Linda Wei, Sharon Greysen, Michelle Anderson, Jessica Ni, Edie Takahashi, and Rob Christensen (Sutton–Premier Realty), along with several family and friends.

“Our team walked and blinged up our hats and shirts in memory of Lin Sawicki, a colleague we lost earlier this year to cancer.”
