REALTORS® Raise $1,100 for Hospice with Charity Hockey Game

Rivals in business, but team-mates on the ice, REALTORS® from across Central Vancouver Island faced off for the good of the community at the 1st Annual Vancouver Island Real Estate Board REALTOR® Charity Hockey Game on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Organized by Nanaimo REALTORS® Justus Edmundson (RE/MAX of Nanaimo) and Jordan Belveal (Coast Realty Group), this creative event raised $1,100 for the Nanaimo Community Hospice Society.

“Our goal is for this to be the first of many,” explained one of the event’s organizers, REALTOR® Justus Edmundson, prior to the game. “It’s a great opportunity to get out, have some fun and to do good all at the same time – everybody wins.”

A total of 22 REALTORS® laced up their skates as participants in the fundraiser. A small but enthusiastic audience cheered on their hockey heroes. Held at the Cliff McNabb Arena at Nanaimo’s Beban Park, the all-in-fun event raised money through fees paid by the volunteer players to cover the rental of the ice surface, with the remainder being donated to the Hospice Society.
