I don’t work in real estate. Can I still submit a nomination?
Absolutely! Almost anyone—individuals, non-profits, or companies—can nominate a deserving REALTOR®. The exceptions are: REALTORS® cannot nominate themselves, nor can nominators be current members of the Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) Board of Directors, staff, or current members of its ESG Committee, as well as REALTOR.ca Canada Inc.’s (REALTOR.ca®) Board of Directors and staff. Can I nominate an entire brokerage or team?
No. The Canadian REALTORS Care® Award recognizes individual efforts, not the collective efforts of brokerages and teams. We recommend reaching out to the office and asking who they would recommend nominating as the leader of their charitable efforts.
Can I nominate someone who has been nominated in the past?
Yes! As long as they’re still an active REALTOR® who continues to make an impact, repeat nominations are welcome.
Can my nomination be anonymous?
Yes. Once the nomination period closes, you’ll be given the opportunity to inform us if you’d wish to remain anonymous.
I’ve just submitted a nomination, when will I know if my nominee is selected as the recipient?
In early 2026, the selection committee will determine the recipient of the award and they and their nominator will be notified. All other nominees will learn of their nomination before the Spring of 2026 and the recipient of the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award 2026 will be announced at CREA’s Annual General Meeting on April 14, 2026.
How can I make my nomination package stand out?
As the nominator, you are the storyteller. Your mission is to share the full story of the impact the nominee has made in your community. You are encouraged to reach out to others to gather more information and confirm important details. Be sure to use the ability to add multiple letters of reference and supporting documentation to paint a clear picture. While completing the nomination form, make certain to read and use the tips in the information boxes.
Can others help me fill out the nomination form?
No. Our online form saves your progress by using cookies and cannot be opened on other devices. We recommend drafting the answers with any collaborators offline before you begin to complete the form. A complete list of the questions can be found and shared here.
Will CREA contact the REALTOR® for additional information?
No. Your submitted nomination form, letters of support, and additional documentation will be assessed independent of the nominee. Please ensure your nomination and supporting documents are thorough and complete.
How will the nominations be assessed?
CREA staff will conduct a preliminary evaluation of all nomination packages received. They will evaluate each nominee based on the following criteria: depth of commitment, addressing inequity, personal impact on charity and/or community, embodiment of volunteerism, and ability to inspire others. Following this review, the selection committee will be presented with the top 10 nominees.
Our selection committee will be made up of two (2) ESG Committee members and a current director from the CREA Board of Directors. The committee will review the top 10 nominations and then meet via conference call in January 2026 to select the recipient and a runner-up.
What if more than one person nominates the same REALTOR®?
In the case of multiple nominations being submitted in support of the same individual, CREA will contact the nominators to combine the information into one form. Where attachment limits allow, reference letters and additional documentation from all nominators will be included in the final nomination package.
Why does the letter of reference have to be from a registered charity?
Registered charities meet strict governance standards, which helps our committee assess consistency across nominations. However, we highly value additional letters of support from individuals and community groups that can speak to the nominee’s local impact.
Why are there limits on answer length and supporting documents?
CREA is delighted to receive many inspirational nominations for the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award. These limits have been put in place to ensure fair, thoughtful review and reflection of all submissions.
I forgot to include an important piece of information or documentation, what should I do?
Submit missing or additional information by the deadline of 11:59 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, November 30, 2025, by emailing REALTORSCare@crea.ca. To rewrite your nomination answers please complete a new online form and notify our team to remove your original entry.
How are nominees recognized?
Regardless of whether your nominee is selected as the recipient of this year’s award, we think that their impact should be celebrated! All eligible nominees will be featured on REALTORSCare.ca and the social media feeds of REALTORS Care® and CREA. Select nominees will have the opportunity to be featured in the REALTORS Care® Spotlight video series.
