Fifty REALTORS® with the Manitoba Real Estate Association (MREA) helped serve up Easter dinner to hundreds of the city’s less fortunate at the Siloam Mission. This was the 13th year has donated time and money to ensure those in need get a turkey dinner complete with pie and punch.

“I was completely blown away seeing everyone and their families being so thankful at what we were doing,” said Pamela Moat, operations coordinator with MREA.

Some REALTORS® helped in the kitchen while others served the meals and helped clean tables.

“Everyone who came was able to enjoy a sit-down meal, enjoy some musical performances, and hopefully get the chance to relax, even for just a short while,” Moat said.

Through the Manitoba Real Estate Association Shelter Foundation, Manitoba REALTORS® have been proudly sponsoring shelter-based charities for years. They orchestrate a “Close a Sale, Open a Door” initiative throughout the year that has participating REALTORS® donating $10 from every sale of a house to a fund that’s dispersed to charities at the end of the year. In 2017, $57,100 was split between 12 shelter-based organizations.

“Our members often go above and beyond with their giving and it has such a huge impact on the communities we serve,” Moat said.
