Monte Carlo Night Raises $37,000 for Local Charities

A Monte Carlo night held at the Canadian Forces Base Moncton on May 2nd raised more than $37,000 for local charities.  Event coordinator Shirley Fillmore, Manager of Royal LePage Atlantic said the event organized by chairman Roger LeBlanc and Royal LePage Atlantic, drew nearly 300 people.  “The turnout was fabulous” she said.  “Everyone was having a wonderful time.  There was a lot of hype about it this year, and a lot of people came out to have a lot of fun.”

Those in attendance played at one of 32 blackjack tables before placing bids in a silent auction, sponsored by local businesses.  Fillmore said donations surpassed the organizers’ original goal of $30,000.  Proceeds from the event went to the Tree of Hope, Dieppe Youth House, Wee Care, The Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society, and the Shelter Foundation, which donated its portion of the funds to the Crossroads for Women in Moncton.
