For 90 Years, Windsor-Essex County REALTORS® Have Been Giving Back to the Community

This past May, the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board (WECREB) celebrated their 90th anniversary. Throughout their 90 year history, the WECREB has contributed in countless ways toward enhancing and improving the quality of life for many citizens and residents of the area. Windsor-Essex County REALTORS® are proud to be a part of WECREB’s respected history in community involvement and building.

For 90 years, Windsor-Essex County REALTORS® have devoted countless hours and contributed funds, equipment and other resources to a number of worthwhile causes, projects and service organizations. The Children’s Aid Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association and The Humane Society are just a few of the many deserving causes and charities that have benefited from the hard work and generosity of Windsor-Essex County REALTORS®.

Since the WECREB is a non-profit organization, the dedicated and enthusiastic board members must raise every dollar donated. Fundraisers, 50/50 draws and raffles are just a few of the ways the Board is able to provide local charities and organizations with financial contributions.

An annual golf tournament, the Christmas Gala Silent Auction and student bursaries and scholarships are just three events that the WECREB are proud to be associated with.

In 1998, when a flood devastated the Windsor-Essex area, WECREB REALTORS® helped raise $12,000 to be donated to the Essex County-Pelee Island Flood Disaster Relief Fun.

In 2006, the four annual education awards available to students were increased to $2,000 from the $1,000 offered in previous years.

In 2007, a donation of $50,000 was given to Windsor Regional Hospital toward the purchase of a new 64-slice CT scanner. This scanner has been in use since January 2008 and has significantly reduced wait times for scans for area residents.

Since 1918, thousands of dollars and volunteer hours have been given back into community projects sponsored by the Windsor-Essex County Real Estate Board showing that the REALTORS® of Windsor-Essex County truly do care about the region they live and work in.
