REALTOR® Cliff Barron turned a community park into a pop-up pumpkin patch.

For the second year in a row, Cliff Barron’s Great Pumpkin Giveaway benefited the United Way with more than $500 being raised for the communities of Halton and Hamilton.

Understanding that many of his clients like to make jack-o’-lanterns and pies, Barron purchased a load of more than 250 pumpkins (nearly 2,000 pounds) from local farmers. On October 22, Barron and volunteers spent hours giving them away by donation at a neighbourhood park.

In addition, Barron said he appreciates the cooperation of the town of Milton, which allowed him to hold this special event in the suburban park.

“A highlight of the day was getting back home and getting a big thank-you email from somebody living in the neighbourhood. They said they’re definitely a future client,” he said.

Another part of this autumn tradition is a draw for a large gift basket supplied by Barron himself. Hundreds of people filled in entries for that draw.

All of the funds raised at this pumpkin giveaway were donated to United Way Halton and Hamilton. The money remains in local communities to bolster programs by dozens of non-profit organizations such as Food for Life, STRIDE employment services, Canadian Mental Health Association and Literacy North.

“Thanks to my family, friends and volunteers for helping out,” Barron said. “Can’t wait until next year.”
