Tanya Grainger, a REALTOR® with Sutton Group – Muskoka Realty Inc., is the latest recipient of a prestigious community award for someone who demonstrates exceptional spirit and dedication.
Each year, residents of the Ontario community of Dwight honour someone with the Bob Palmer award. The award commemorates Palmer, who often volunteered his time to run activities and events that added to the quality of life in the region.
In Tanya’s case, her spirit of giving began when she was a youth and has become a cornerstone of her life.
“Tanya Grainger received the Bob Palmer award for her hard work, dedication and wonderful volunteer work in the community,” said Jamie Lockwood, broker/owner at Sutton Group – Muskoka Realty Inc. “Tanya earned the Ontario Junior Citizen award at an early age and hasn’t looked back. She has helped fundraise for children with special needs, taught Sunday school and served on several local boards. She is currently a Pathfinder leader, the manager of the Dwight Farmers’ Market and still holds the position of the Chair for HOLD, a non-profit group that organizes fundraisers and special events to better the towns of Hillside, Oxtongue Lake and Dwight.”

Palmer played a significant role in the Dwight community for more than 20 years before he passed away in 1996. He redeveloped the winter carnival to incorporate outdoor activities and he was responsible for the formation of the Algonquin Snowmobile Club, one of the first snowmobile clubs to be established in Ontario.
