In life, there are many twists, turns, and bumps in the road.

But one specific bump that affected Manuela ‘Manny’ Farrell’s life, and the life of everyone at Mississauga’s Sutton Summit Realty, came in the form of cancer.

In November 2017, Farrell underwent testing and a biopsy only to receive the all-clear. However, that sense of relief didn’t last long. By April, the lump grew and by May, the friendly receptionist was officially diagnosed with breast cancer. Within weeks, she began radiation treatment and underwent a lymph node biopsy. On July 18, she commenced chemotherapy, affecting her ability to work and support herself and her family, said broker of record Blair Armstrong, who is sharing her story in hopes that people will help in any way, large or small.

“For women like Manny who are used to always helping others and being self-sufficient, learning to accept help from friends, family, and others is difficult. But she is focused on conquering this, undergoing the treatment, and hoping to return to her strong, capable self,” Armstrong said, adding, “Manny is a champion, grasping this journey with great strength and even stronger spirits.”

Because of the financial burden pushed on people undergoing treatment for cancer, Armstrong decided to start a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of raising money to help their beloved receptionist.

“The support Manny is receiving from REALTORS® has been remarkable. I’m proud of all those that have contributed to the GoFundMe campaign for Manny, knowing that the money raised goes automatically and directly to her.”

As of Friday, Aug. 17, the campaign has raised close to $10,000.

“Manny is loved by anyone that knows her, so everyone at our brokerage misses her smile,” Armstrong said. “Our entire Sutton Summit family is rallying together to support her and I know how excited everyone will be when she returns.”
