REALTORS® in Newfoundland help make sick kids’ dreams come true

On November 3, 2019, REALTORS® Royal LePage Vision Realty in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, presented a cheque for $5,330 to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada’s NL chapter. The donation came after more than a year of fundraising.

Since October 2018, REALTORS® from Royal LePage Vision have been committed to helping make dreams come true for children suffering with life threatening illnesses across their province. It all began when the team was approached by the foundation’s provincial director, Barry Fowler.

“Giving back to our community has always been a core value for us here at Royal LePage Vision,” explains marketing director Holly McCue. “So, once we realized how closely connected the Children’s Wish Foundation is to our community, we just couldn’t say no.”

Immediately, brokerage owner Joe Fleming and his team set to work. They decided that the best way for them to help was to commit to setting aside a portion of their earnings from home sales for the next year. Once the decision was made, it didn’t take long until their coffers began to swell.

“Everyone was on board,” Holly continues. “It gave everyone an extra bit of motivation knowing that every home sold brought them one step closer to helping a child’s wish come true.”

Handing over a cheque for their fundraising efforts at the 34th Annual Jiggs & Reels for Wishes event was a rewarding experience for all, leaving everyone with the warm satisfaction of knowing that their actions helped improve the lives of their friends and neighbours in their community.

“Our reason is simple,” says Joe. “Communities are crying for help today more than ever… We live in the community, we take from the community, we are a part of the community, and we want to give back to the community. Thanks for all you do for us.”
